A power of attorney lets someone else carry out a legal transaction on your behalf: buy or sell property, take part in probate proceedings, collect a document or represent you at a bank or authority. For most of these, the signature on the power of attorney must be certified by a notary.

Power of attorney from abroad for use in Croatia

If you live abroad, you can sign the power of attorney before a local notary or at a Croatian embassy or consulate. We prepare a bilingual text (Croatian and the language of the country where you sign) so that both the foreign notary and the Croatian authorities understand it. An apostille or legalisation is then added to the foreign certification and, if needed, we provide a certified translation.

Power of attorney from Croatia for use abroad

For use abroad, we arrange signature certification by a Croatian notary, an apostille or legalisation, and translation into the language of the destination country.

Common purposes

  • buying and selling property and registration in the land registry
  • probate proceedings and renunciation of inheritance
  • setting up a company and representation before the court register
  • obtaining documents from registry offices, courts and ministries
  • banks, the tax administration, the police administration and vehicle registration

Please note: we do not provide legal advice. For complex transactions, we recommend agreeing the wording of the power of attorney with a lawyer or notary.
